Unite Here Local 40 represents workers throughout BC who work in hotels, food service and airports. Hotels: Our members are the housekeepers, in stadiums like Rogers Arena, in corporate cafeterias, cooks and dishwashers who make the hospitality industry run. Food Service: Local 40 represents food service workers across BC who prepare and serve food on college and university campuses, banquet workers, food and beverage servers, and in camps and mines in the Interior. Through organizing, family-supporting, Unite Here members have made hotel housekeeping jobs and thousands of other traditionally low wage jobs into good, middle class jobs. The majority of Unite Here members are women. Local 40 is part of the Unite Here International Union, food service, 000 workers in the hotel, representing over 300, airport and gaming industries throughout Canada and the U.S. Unite Here Local 40 has a diverse membership that includes workers from many immigrant and First Nations communities. Airports: Our members work in the stores and restaurants in airport terminals, in airport hotels and in-flight kitchens that service airlines.
